New “The State of Downtown” Report Focuses on Harrisburg’s Progress

Harristown Development Corporation, the Harrisburg Downtown Improvement District and Visit Hershey Harrisburg recently collaborated on the release of a new, comprehensive report: The State of Downtown Harrisburg 2023-2024.
The 28-page, glossy, color report, developed in partnership with TheBurg and funded in part by Visit Hershey Harrisburg, highlights the dramatic growth and progress of downtown Harrisburg over the past five years.
An update to the last report issued in 2017-2018, this latest edition focuses on: new eateries and specialty shops, the dramatic increase in residential development, the multitude of educational opportunities and medical development, the surge in the ultra-successful e-sports phenomenon, attractions and entertainment, as well as a myriad of other downtown successes. Both printed and digital versions of the report are available to share the positive energy and to assist in furthering economic development in downtown and across the city.
You don’t realize all the great things going on in the city until you bring them all together in this type of report,” said Brad Jones, President & CEO of Harristown. “I’m sure there are even more fantastic things happening throughout Harrisburg; this document gives a snapshot of all the hard work that is being done right here to revitalize the downtown!
This report reaffirms the themes that VHH promotes to leisure guests, meeting planners and sports & special events operators; Harrisburg is an exciting place to visit, stage and host vibrant and successful events,” said VHH President & CEO Mary Smith. “We were happy to support this initiative and we’re confident that the best is yet to come for our capital city.
As Harristown prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024, this report showcases the positive energy swirling through the downtown, encouraging new restaurants, retailers and businesses to make the city their home.
